A telling of how Solar Steelconstruction made it to the mountain and conquered it.
A few words about the mountain.
Hoverla is the highest peak of Ukraine and of the Carpathian Mountains, it is 2,061 meters high above the sea level.
In Romanian, the name of the mountain means “Hard-passable Elevation”. In Hungarian, it is a “Snowy Mountain”.
Indeed, the most time of the year, the peak of Hoverla is covered with snow. That is why tourists are advised to conquer the mountain in May-October and – it is important – in good weather. We were lucky and the weather was sunny, despite the calendar showed November 1.
The road from Yasinya to Vorokhta turned out picturesque and very easy.
There are at least three main paths to get to the top of Hoverla Mountain. Two of them go from the sports base “Zaroslyak”, located 7 kilometers from Vorokhta village, Ivano-Frankivsk region. And one is from Lazeshchyna of Zakarpattia region.
We’ve been walking for the first 30 minutes in the dense forests along the small stream. You always have to follow the road indicators or otherwise, you can gape and get lost if you will not meet other tourists for some time.
The route to the peak of Hoverla has a gentle slope. Its length is 4.3 km or 2.5-3 hours of time.
The last 20 minutes are the hardest. But, eventually, we braced ourselves up and, yee-haw! We are at the top of Hoverla! 2,061 meters is the highest point is all Ukrainian Carpathian Mountains!
We hope this will not be our last mountain adventure in Ukraine and maybe – even in the world!
